Chromatec Video Products was registered in 1986 as a manufacturer of audio and video products and was originally based in the South-East of England. Initial product success was achieved with the introduction of multi-channel audio metering for audio studios and radio stations. Products such as AM-xx and MADI-xx set new standards for analogue and digital audio metering and rapidly became the standard in prestigious organisations such as the BBC.
The transition into multiviewer design was a natural and evolutionary step that started with a collaboration with Barco to develop the one of the first broadcast-standard multiviewers with audio metering.
Subsequent collaborations with Snell & Wilcox, SAM, Grass Valley and Kramer led to the world-wide deployment of modular multiviewers with ever increasing channel densities and support for higher resolutions.
For example, Major League Baseball in the US utilise Chromatec multiviewers in their stadiums for monitoring and routing multiple standard and high-frame rate Grass Valley camera feeds
Current multiviewers such as SMP-MVxx support up to 48 inputs at UHD60 resolutions with 4 UHD head outputs in 1RU frame. The flagship MP-MVxx goes much further with up to 144 inputs at UHD60 resolution and up to 16 outputs in 3RU format and capable of routing and displaying thousands of audio channels on one or more screens.
But of course, a company is only as good as the team of dedicated people who design and make the products.
Chromatec’s design team is highly experienced and dedicated to making world-class products that are cutting-edge in their ambitions, but tempered with the knowledge that products need to run 24/7. Long-term product reliability is a key objective, so products are carefully engineered, assembled and tested to the highest standard, using automotive-grade components whenever possible.
To ensure the highest quality, outsourcing the assembly of Chromatec PCBs was not an option. So Chromatec built a manufacturing team and invested in the technology required to assemble all their products in-house.
Last but not least, Chromatec take pride in their customer support and will always “go the extra-mile” to ensure customer satisfaction. Whether its longer product warranties or a receptive ear to a customers suggestion or proposed enhancement, Chromatec will always respond in a friendly and supportive manner.
